COVER ART PROCEDURES

  1. Editorial Directors or Managing Editors will post all cover needs, including title and author, and Cover Art Form (CAF) and other pertinent information (similar covers, etc). Priority and due date for mock ups will be included.
  2. If you’re interested in a title, complete a mock up or mock ups and attach via your account at Submittable (this is free).
  3. Once cover mock ups are received, you will receive feedback or a response within 1-2 weeks. If your mock up is selected, you will receive an email from the Managing Editor or Editorial Director offering this cover to you.  All other artists who submitted mock ups will be notified with a thank you email.
  4. Once selected, artists work with the ME or ED to receive feedback on the initial design until a final cover is complete.
  5. When final cover is complete, submit again via Submittable.  We will attain final publisher approval at that point.
  6. Please complete any additional revisions to the cover at this time, per further feedback.
  7. Upon acceptance, send an invoice for the cover to the point of contact person.  He or she will submit your invoice to the finance department for payment. Please note:

Entangled utilizes a 3-tier payment scale for cover art:

    * For standard covers for digital-only titles, Entangled pays $100 per completed and approved cover.

    * For covers that require "extensive" Photoshop work for our digital-only titles, we pay $150 per completed and approved cover.

    * For covers for the print lines, we pay $250 per cover completed and approved.
  8. Whenever possible, please use Shutterstock and ThinkStock.  We have accounts at these two sites and will download approved art for projects.  If you use a different source, include the cost of the art in addition to your bid.
